Clearblue Pregnancy Test Rapid Detection

The Clearblue Plus pregnancy test

Are you a little lost among all the pregnancy tests that exist in pharmacies and supermarkets? Here is our selection of pregnancy tests with, each time, all the explanations on how they work and how to read the result.

Following suspicions of pregnancy, you want to take a pregnancy test but you don't know which one to choose? Here is a selection and a small analysis of different tests offered in pharmacies to help you see things more clearly. Note that even if they have small subtleties, they are all used in the same way. You just have to urinate on the test, and wait for the results. Indeed, the test will detect whether or not your urine contains the hormone HCG , also called the pregnancy hormone. If it is present, its level is highest in morning urine, which is why it is generally recommended to take the test at this time of day, on an empty stomach. It is secreted when the egg attaches to the uterine wall, approximately eight days after fertilization.

The Clearblue Plus pregnancy test consists of an absorbent swab ("control swab") for urine and a cap. On the top, two windows: one for the result, the other for checking that the test is working properly. Clearblue Plus is a 99% reliable urine pregnancy test .

DESCRIPTION

CLEARBLUE Rapid Detection

Pregnancy Test One result possible in just 1 minute Medical device 1 test

The Clearblue Rapid Detection Pregnancy Test is designed to be the easiest home pregnancy test to use, thanks to its wide test rod and ergonomic handle.

With the accuracy you expect from Clearblue, you can get a result in 1 minute*. A ‘Pregnant’ result can be displayed in as little as one minute when testing on the first day of a missed period. You need to wait 3 minutes to confirm a ‘Not Pregnant’ result.

It is over 99% accurate from the expected date of your period* and can be used up to 5 days before your missed period (i.e. 4 days before your expected period).

In laboratory tests, pregnancy detection rates were: 98% one day before the expected period, 97% 2 days before, 88% 3 days before, and 56% 4 days before the expected period.

In a UK study, more than 9 in 10 women said they would pay more for Clearblue Rapid Detection than for a test strip (based on 111 women using and reading different types of tests).

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Before taking the pregnancy test, always read the instructions that come with it carefully.

When you are ready to test, remove the test stick from its packaging, remove the blue cap, and use the test immediately.
Hold the absorbent swab pointing downward under the urine stream, or dip it into a urine sample stored in a clean, dry container, for just 5 seconds.
The swab will immediately change color to pink, confirming that it has been soaked by urine. Hold the swab in the urine for the full 5 seconds.

IMPORTANT

Pointing Stem Up/Down
Hold the absorbent swab pointing down, or lay the test stick flat while waiting for the result.

Wait 3 minutes. Blue lines will appear as the test progresses.
You can read your result in the result window.
A blue line must be present in the control window when reading the results. This line indicates that the test has worked.

A “Pregnant” result may appear within 1 minute of testing when the test is taken from the first day of your missed period (which is the day after your period is expected).
You must wait the full 3 minutes to confirm a “Not Pregnant” result (see question 8). If no blue line appears in the control window, the test did not work (see question 10).
It does not matter if one of the lines forming the “+” sign is lighter or darker than the other; the result is “Pregnant”.
You must read the result no later than 10 minutes after testing. Do not take into account any changes after this time.

Advice from Expert

“Certain health conditions or taking certain medications can affect the results of a pregnancy test. For example, fertility treatments taken shortly before the test can cause a false positive. Similarly, a recent pregnancy, even an unsuccessful one, as well as certain medical conditions such as an ectopic pregnancy, ovarian cysts, or menopause, can also affect a result.

On the other hand, hormonal contraceptives, painkillers and other infertility treatments do not impact the test result. If you get an unexpected or uncertain result, it is recommended to consult your doctor to get reliable confirmation.
