Normal baby weight in the second and third months
Second and third months: what weight for boys and girls?
BABY'S WEIGHT AT 2 MONTHS
From 4.2 to 6.5 kg for boys
From 4 to 6 kg for girls
At 2 months, baby's appetite is gradually regulating and demands meals at a more regular pace. You are also more accustomed to understanding their needs. Milk should represent an intake of at least 500 mL per day, but in general a 2-month-old baby absorbs about 750 mL per day, the equivalent of 5 to 6 bottles per day.
During this second month, gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) can persist. Occurring without effort by the infant, the resulting food vomiting is encouraged by changes in position during or after meals. If vomiting requires effort, is bilious, bloody, or is associated with a cough or breathing difficulties, consult a doctor quickly.
BABY WEIGHT AT 3 MONTHS
From 4.9 to 7.5 kg for boys
From 4.5 to 6.9 kg for girls
Milk should represent an intake of at least 500 mL per day, but in general a 3-month-old baby absorbs about 750 mL per day or more.
At the age of 3 months, baby's digestive problems often gradually regress. For many children, infant colic disappears, although it can persist for some up to 5 months.
Gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) regresses in the vast majority after the age of 3 months. If this is not the case, a consultation is necessary.
